Trails around the lodge

We have a wide range of way-marked walking trails, each with a route description sheet and an associated map. The walks vary in length and difficulty to suit your requirements.

Most of the trails pass through beautiful indigenous woodland, which offer excellent bird watching and the occasional sightings of antelope, monkeys and baboons. Rarely are we without an abundance of beautiful wild flowers and orchids.

You will often come across animal tracks and spore which you will find all around the walks. This makes for an interesting environment and eco-friendly adventure!

Trekking to lake Malawi and through the Viphya mountains

If you're adventurous and you love nature and beautiful scenery, then the peace and tranquility of our walking trail to lake Malawi is just for you.....

Starting at around 2000 metres above sea level the trails take you over rolling plateaus and into lichen draped woodland.  There are fantastic views across the lake to Mozambique, the islands and mountains beyond.

There are two options for the route; a one and a half and a two and a half day trek, with one or two nights camping in beautiful locations, right in the heart of the African bush.

You don't have to be a mountain goat to enjoy this.  Antelopes, birds and monkeys serve as entertainment for the walk and you will have the chance to glimpse true remote hill communities far from popular African culture.

This complete experience of beautiful woodland, rolling grasslands, rivers and jungle forests, descend through the rift lake escarpment, with amazing views of the lake. It is a unique, and truly memorable experience. The Luwawa-Chintheche trail to Lake Malawi is a must to compliment any safari or beach holiday.

Logistical assistance and experienced guides are provided for each trip including luggage transfer, porters, food and tents etc.
